Why we're in a bad economy

Stupid decisions by banks and investment firms. Stupid decisions by auto manufacturers. Stupid decisions by government. Stupid decisions by Hollywood producers:

Following her recently ended 3-year stint as Detective Jennifer Angell on CBS's CSI: New York, actress Emmanuelle Vaugier knows why her character was killed off during Wednesday night's season finale: In a word, the "economy."

"One of the executive producers called me at home several weeks before we were going to shoot," Vaugier told TV Guide Friday. "It was right before the script was going to come out. She said, 'I just wanted you to know first so you didn't hear it from someone else.' She was really great about it. She said, 'We hate to do this. We're going to get so much crap from the crew and everybody. Gary [Sinise] doesn't know yet and he's not going to be happy.' It was really sweet."
Only in Hollywood does it make sense to get rid of this beauty:

Yes, they get rid of the goddess Emmanuelle Vaugier while keeping the increasingly obnoxious Anna Belknap and Carmine Giovanazzo, who is sounding more and more like a bad Eminem impression. How about dumping the creepy and not particularly likable A.J. Buckley? Or even Eddie Cahill?

Strong female characters seem to be falling by the wayside in the CSI genre in general. CSI seems to be forcing Marg Helgenberger to take a backseat to the monotonic Laurence Fishburne. Meanwhile, on CSI: Miami Eva Larue is nice but not powerful enough and Emily Procter is just as monotone as Fishburne. on CSI: NY, Anna Belknap is too loud and overstated. Now with Vaugier gone, the wonderful Melina Kanakaredes will have to carry the load for all the women in the CSI universe.

Ihave always been a fan of Vaugier. From everything I have seen of her throughout her career, she has come off as a beautiful, intelligent and funny lady who definitely does not take herself too seriously. The perfect woman, in many ways. A true anti-skank who deserves adulation and admiration rather than any scorn whatsoever. CSI: NY killing her off is a tragedy for us all and an injustice to her.

Best wishes go out to Emmanuelle Vaugier. You deserve a fantastic career.
